Wagner family letters, 1854-1865.

Twenty-two family letters from cousins Jemima B. Wagner and Orisse Morgan, Chancey B. Wilbur, and Charles H. Wagner to his wife while he was away at war. The first letters mention subjects of daily life, weather, marriages, health, deaths, local news, and domestic matters. Charles H. Wagner describes his experiences in the army during the Civil War and mentions marching, riding the train and a steamship, conditions at the forts where he was stationed, his position in the company, news of other friends and relatives also in the company, and shows concern about family and friends at home.
